Enabling JavaScript within a Browser

JavaScript is necessary to work properly on Capella courses, and is also required for proper testing purposes on the Capella Computer Check-Up. Most results on that page will be inaccurate because of the inability to run scripts. If you don't know how to change the browser's settings, please refer to your browser's Help files or read below.

For Windows PC users:

Internet Explorer

  1. In the browser menu, go to Tools.
  2. Choose Internet Options.
  3. Click the Security tab.
  4. Click the Custom Level button.
  5. Scroll down and look for the Scripting subheading
  6. Ensure that Active Scripting and Scripting for Java Applets are enabled.
  7. Click the OK button for the Security Setting page.
  8. Click the OK button Internet Options page.

Netscape Navigator

  1. In the browser menu, go to Edit.
  2. Choose Preferences.
  3. In the left Category pane, click on the arrow next to the Advanced category to produce a submenu.
  4. Choose Scripts & Plugins from the submenu. This page should appear to the right.
  5. Ensure that the checkbox for Navigator is checked.
  6. There are several checkboxes under Allow scripts to: that should also be checked.
  7. Click the OK button.


For Macintosh users:

Internet Explorer

  1. With the browser menu active, go to Explorer.
  2. Choose Preferences.
  3. Click on Web Content.
  4. Ensure that Enable scripting checkbox is checked.
  5. While you're in there, you might as well ensure that Enable plugins checkbox is checked. This will be necessary for other requirements of Capella's course work.
  6. Click the OK button.

Netscape Navigator

  1. With the browser menu active, go to Netscape.
  2. Choose Preferences.
  3. In the left Category pane, click on the arrow next to the Advanced category to produce a submenu.
  4. Choose Scripts & Plugins from the submenu. This page should appear to the right.
  5. Ensure that the checkbox for Navigator is checked.
  6. Click the OK button.

When you have completed any configuration change, please return to the Capella Computer Check-Up page and click the Check Again button. This will ensure a new scan of your system is performed. After retesting, if no indication of change has occurred, it may be necessary to follow these futher instructions:

  1. Close out all instances of the brower you just made changes to (including this one.)
  2. Restart a single instance of the same browser.
  3. Return to the Capella Computer Check-Up tool.

  4. Click the Check Again button.
  5. Did the new test indicate any change? If not, restart your computer and follow this testing procedure again.
