Kevin Carey of the New America Foundation had a piece in yesterday’s Chronicle of Higher Education about the opportunity in front of President Obama for higher education reform in his second term. It’s a thoughtful piece that’s worth the read. With the federal law that authorizes higher education policy in the U.S. expiring at the end of this year, there is an enormous opportunity for lawmakers to bring about much needed change in higher education policy. Capella is going to be engaging policy-makers and thought leaders in this debate with an agenda built on three principles:
– Outcomes measurement and transparency
– Financial sustainability
We’re going to have a lot to say in these areas over the coming months. Carey offers a constructive set of thoughts to start the conversation.
