Validity and Reliability of Tests and Measures

Need validity and reliability information for a survey, test or instrument? You can start with the Mental Measurements Yearbook (MMY), which provides reviews of published tests that discuss validity and reliability. But what if the test you chose doesn’t appear in the MMY, or what if you are required to find additional articles that discuss its reliability and validity?

Search for the test name in quotation marks (e.g., ” Leadership Practices Inventory”) in one of the discipline-specific article databases (e.g., Business Source Complete, PsycINFO, Sage Journals Online, etc.), to find articles that discuss your chosen measurement instrument.

Search in Business Source Complete for the Leadership Practices Inventory

See the Validity, Reliability, etc. page in our Finding Test & Measurement Instruments guide to find out more.
