Teaching Philosophy

"I am a student-focused professor, and my teaching philosophy is driven by two goals. My first goal is simply: “Learners first!” The learners are my reason for being in the courseroom. As such, I am committed to seeing that all of my learners master course concepts and objectives. My second goal focuses on applied learning. I believe strongly that learners need to do more than simply study theories of political science and public administration. Theories provide learners with backgrounds in their fields, but learners also need to be able touch this information by taking academic theories and applying these same theories to real world situations. This is one of the many strengths of Capella’s programs, and just one of the reasons why I really enjoy teaching here."
