Our Winter 2016 commencement events will take place on March 11 & 12, 2016 at the Ernest N. Morial Convention Center in New Orleans.

Travel Information

Delta Airlines is offering a group code which may offer discounted airfare for Commencement travellers, based on your flight itinerary and fare. Book online via Delta and enter this Meeting Event Code during the booking process: NMMJG.

To use the Meeting Event Code from Delta's main page, go to Book a Trip and click on Advanced Search. The event code should be entered on the Advanced Search page in the Meeting Event Code box.

PARKING AT ERNEST N MORIAL CONVENTION CENTER

Event Parking is available in Lot F, located on Convention Center Blvd. directly across from Halls I and J. Parking fee is $10.00 per car.

GETTING TO THE CONVENTION CENTER

For Guests staying at the Hilton Riverside Hotel, the Convention Center is approximately a 1.5 mile walk to the Capella events taking place in Hall I and the New Orleans Theater. Other options include:

  • Streetcars
    Riverfront Line takes you along the New Orleans Riverfront, including a stop for The Ernest N. Morial Convention Center. For more information on restaurants and attractions along the Riverfront Streetcar route visit the Riverfront Streetcar page. See the NORTA Riverfront Streetcar line page for map and schedule information. Standard Fares are $1.25, or purchase unlimited rides as a 1 or 3 day pass
  • Jazzy Passes
    The Jazzy Pass is a card with a magnetic strip that lets you ride RTA buses and streetcars as much as you'd like during the period it is active. It comes in 1-Day or 3-Day versions. For more information, visit the Jazzy Pass page.
  • Drive from the Hilton to the Convention Center, parking in Lot F.
  • Cabs are available at the Hilton front entrance

Ceremony Ticket Information

Capella University wants to provide each guest an equal opportunity to celebrate their graduate's accomplishments. Every graduate is offered 6 guest tickets after RSVPing for the ceremony.

Each guest must have a ticket to attend a commencement ceremony. If you would like to have additional guests attend, please click here to request additional tickets. You will receive an email from the box office in early February regarding your request. We will do our best to accommodate all requests for additional tickets; however, in the event that tickets are no longer available we will provide overflow seating and live streaming of the ceremony.

EVENT SEATING

General seating for the commencement ceremony begins 30 minutes prior to the ceremony start. All guests should plan to be seated at least 10 minutes prior to the start of the commencement ceremony. Late seating is at the discretion of the ushers.

Children under 2 years of age do not need a ticket, and may be held in caregiver's arms.

Children over 2 years of age must have a ticket and be accompanied by an adult to enter the hall.

DISABILITY SEATING

Guests requiring special services such as disability seating are asked to arrive 60 minutes prior to the ceremony start time. If you or one of your guests have a disability and will require special accommodations at the ceremony please send your request to: DisabilityServices@Capella.edu.
