Professional Associations
Professional associations exist for just about every industry and profession. They offer a variety of benefits to you when exploring careers, searching for practicum and internship sites and jobs, and continuing your education for maintaining licensure. Specific benefits of many associations include:
- Industry information (i.e. trends, product development, key leaders) Counseling learners are required to join the appropriate professional association as a student member to obtain professional liability insurance prior to starting practicum. Student membership is affordable, provides you with access to professional publications, and provides you with opportunities for involvement in the profession through attendance at professional conferences and engagement in professional activities.
