Lee Owens, Med


Lee Owens is the associate dean for general education and first course in Capella University's School of Undergraduate Studies. He holds a Med in Higher Education Administration from Loyola University Chicago and a BA in Sociology from Roosevelt University. Mr. Owens has 35 years of administrative experience in higher education, having served as director of a learning center, dean of students, dean of special training programs, and dean of career programs at Loyola University Chicago, Governors State University, and the City Colleges of Chicago. Among notable accomplishments, Mr. Owens was presented the Kathy Osterman Award from the city of Chicago in 2005 for Superior Public Service by an Executive Employee, and in 2000, he was selected as the Outstanding Academic Administrator in the Seventh Congressional District of Illinois.

John J. Sullivan, Jr., PhD


John J. Sullivan, Jr., faculty chair for Public Safety at Capella University, has had a distinguished career in both law enforcement and higher education. Before joining Capella in 2007, Sullivan held positions in a variety of areas, including: agent-in-charge for the Money Laundering Task Force in Palm Beach County, Florida; senior vice-president for the International Center for Distance Learning; founding director of graduate studies in criminal justice at Lynn University; U.S. Customs Agent; police officer and homicide investigator in Kansas City; and federal criminal investigator. Sullivan holds a bachelor's in Behavioral Science from Lynn University in Boca Raton, Florida; a master's in Management from National-Louis University in Evanston, Illinois, and a PhD in Organization and Management from Capella University.
