Notable Faculty

Sue Talley, EdD

Dean of Technology

Sue Talley is the dean of Technology in Capella University's School of Business and Technology. Dr. Talley joined Capella University's School of Undergraduate Studies as a faculty director in 2006 and became associate dean for Information Technology and Public Safety in 2007. Her background includes faculty and program director positions at Pepperdine University. She was the Principal Investigator for a grant from the U.S. Department of Education on the use of technology in teacher education. She also worked for Apple Computer in Cupertino, CA. Dr. Talley is also advocating for an increase of women in IT professions. She completed her master's and doctoral work in Educational Technology at Pepperdine University. She received her bachelor's degree in English and Psychology from Macalester College. Her research interests include online learning and faculty professional development, particularly the use of case-based learning.

Bill Dafnis, PhD


Bill Dafnis is the faculty chair for the Bachelor of Science in Information Technology program in Capella’s School of Technology. His professional background includes 20 years of leadership positions with newspaper media publishing in operations, business development, project management and information technology. In the field of higher education, Dr. Dafnis has served at various institutions as a technology faculty member, Associate Dean and Dean of Information Systems and Technology. His research interests focus on disruptive innovation, information security and business process modeling. Dr. Dafnis is a project management professional (PMP) and holds a PhD in Information Systems from Nova Southeastern University, an MSIT with an Information Security and Assurance Specialization from Carnegie Mellon University, MBA from Lake Forest College and a BA from the University of Illinois.
