FlexPath: Your Certificate, Your Way
FlexPath self-paced learning allows you to move quickly through subjects you’re more familiar with while taking more time to grasp new knowledge or skills. You’ll develop the same mastery — and earn the same degree — as the standard version of your program, only in a more efficient, more personalized way.
You pay one flat tuition rate per quarter for as many courses as you can handle — taking no more than two courses at any one time. If you’re looking for a style of learning that offers greater flexibility, more control, and the potential to save you time and money, FlexPath may be an option for you.
Capella's FlexPath Certificate in Management Consulting has been approved by the Higher Learning Commission, but is pending approval by the U.S. Department of Education (ED). Individuals interested in FlexPath may apply for admission to Capella University, however learners will not be eligible to apply for or receive financial aid until ED approval has been received.
FlexPath vs. Structured Format
FlexPath works a little differently than our structured format option. For starters, you’ll work at your own pace, with no preset deadlines. Rather than receiving formal grades, you’ll demonstrate your understanding and mastery of the competencies by submitting assessments. The faculty will then provide substantive feedback — often within 48 hours —helping you further refine your skills and knowledge.
Here’s a quick comparison of the two formats.
|Course Structure||Faculty-led discussions and assignments.||Work independently at your own pace with no preset due dates.|
|Assignments and Course Activity Deadlines||Weekly||By End of Quarter|
|Course Materials||Required textbooks and materials||Use the suggested source material or resources of your choosing — videos, articles, or your own work experience.|
|Courseload||3 courses / quarter maximum||No limit. (A maximum of 2 courses can be taken at any one time.)|
|Tuition Structure||Pay per credit or course.||Pay one flat tuition rate per quarter.|
