Accreditation is an important credential to look for when choosing a university because it is an assurance to you and the public that an institution meets or exceeds standards for quality of faculty, curriculum, student services, and fiscal stability.
Types of Accreditation
Capella University is accredited by the Higher Learning Commission.
The Higher Learning Commission is among the 6 regional accrediting bodies recognized by the U.S. Department of Education. Regional bodies accredit colleges and universities; national bodies accredit trade and vocational schools.
In addition to our regional accreditation, Capella has achieved specialized and program-specific accreditation recognizing the quality and legitimacy of our degree programs.
The program is part of Capella's Professional Education Unit, which has been accredited by the National Council for Accreditation of Teacher Education (NCATE). NCATE-accredited programs are recognized by the U.S. Department of Education and the Council for Higher Education Accreditation for the preparation of P-12 teachers and other professional school personnel. Graduates of these programs are highly regarded by many school districts, licensing authorities, and teaching professionals.
Educational Leadership Constituent Council (ELCC). Capella University’s MS in Educational Leadership – Building Level, EdS/PhD in Leadership in Educational Administration – Building Level, and EdS/PhD in Leadership in Educational Administration – District Level programs are nationally recognized by the Educational Leadership Constituent Council.
