Notable Faculty

Nearly every faculty member in the Capella School of Public Service holds a doctoral degree. Our experienced instructors provide expertise to regional, national, and international public service and health care organizations including emergency response agencies, law enforcement, Fortune 500 health care organizations, the U.S. armed forces, and the U.S. government.

John Darland PsyD, MPP

Interim Dean

Dr. John Darland serves as the interim dean for the School of Public Service Leadership and previously served as the faculty chair for the public administration and nonprofit management and leadership program areas. Dr. Darland, who has worked at the university since 2002, has also served as faculty chair for the Learner Success and Faculty Engagement area in the School of Public Service Leadership, which is responsible for the First Course experience and faculty coaching. Before joining Capella, he worked as a clinical psychologist in a variety of mental health settings, as well as a mental health policy analyst for the Minnesota Department of Human Services. Dr. Darland holds a PsyD in Clinical Psychology from Argosy University and an MPP in Public and Nonprofit Management from the University of Minnesota Humphrey Institute of Public Affairs.

Fabio D'Angelo, PhD, HS-BCP

Interim Faculty Chair - Learner Success and Faculty Engagement

Dr. D'Angelo has been with Capella since 2007 and is now the interim faculty chair for the Learner Success and Faculty Engagement area in the School of Public Service Leadership, which includes First Course, Public Administration and Nonprofit Management. Before joining Capella, Dr. D'Angelo worked in a private practice as an integrative health practitioner for over 10 years and lectured on integrative health care programs in the US and in Italy. He is human service-board certified practitioner and has taught healing modalities and treatments in a variety of health institutes and schools. Dr. D'Angelo holds a PhD in Psychology from the Union Institute & University and was the 2013 Harold Abel Distinguished Faculty Award recipient.
