Notable Faculty

Every member of Capella's Nursing faculty has a doctoral degree, combined with leadership experience and a background in frontline nursing. Many members have served as leaders of regional, national and international organizations including major hospitals, health care and legal nurse consulting, care providers, pharmaceutical companies, public health care organizations, and Veterans Administration.

Patricia Talbert, PhD, MPH, MS, CPHA, CHES

Faculty Chair

Dr. Patricia Talbert is the healthcare faculty chair for Capella University in the School of Public Service Leadership. She specializes in studies of Public Health with a primary focus on women's health, health care law and ethics, health care management, and health promotion and education. Her research interests include primary prevention of cancer, cardiovascular disease, youth violence, and exploring health disparities, with a focus on social and physical determinants of health. She serves on numerous boards and committees including the Healthcare Quality Management Board, the Council for Higher Education Accreditation, the Association for the Study of Higher Education, the American College of Healthcare Executives, and the Powell Center for Women's Health. Dr. Talbert holds a BA in Ethnic Studies from Metropolitan State University, a MS in Higher Education Administration from St. Cloud State University, and a MPH and PhD in Public Health, with a specialization in Community Health Promotion and Education, from Walden University.
