Build the skills, knowledge, and strategies you need to integrate new educational technology in your classroom. In addition to our degree programs, Capella offers professional development courses that are designed by teachers for teachers and made to work in your time and on your budget. Each course is competency-based and incorporates the theories and practical skills you and your students need.
These courses are designed to teach you the foundations of instructional technologies, and may also be able to help you earn continuing education clock hours or graduate credit at a fraction of the cost. Although the professional development course content is centered on technology integration in the classroom, the clock hours and credit can be applied to all education study areas.
Capella University is accredited by the Higher Learning Commission. The Higher Learning Commission is among the 6 regional accrediting bodies recognized by the U.S. Department of Education. Regional bodies accredit colleges and universities; national bodies accredit trade and vocational schools.
The Professional Education Unit (PEU) at Capella University is accredited by the National Council for Accreditation of Teacher Education (NCATE), www.ncate.org. This accreditation covers advanced educator preparation programs at Capella University. However, the accreditation does not include individual education courses that the institution offers to P-12 educators for professional development, relicensure, or other purposes.
NCATE is recognized by the U.S. Department of Education and the Council for Higher Education Accreditation to accredit programs for the preparation of teachers and other professional school personnel. NCATE-accredited programs are known for their standards and rigor, which is why graduates of these programs are highly regarded by many school districts, licensing authorities, and teaching professionals.
