The Higher Learning Commission is among the 6 regional accrediting bodies recognized by the U.S. Department of Education. Regional bodies accredit colleges and universities; national bodies accredit trade and vocational schools.
The PhD specialization in Special Education Leadership is recognized by the Council for Exceptional Children (CEC).
The MS specialization in Early Childhood Education is recognized by the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC).
The MS specialization in Leadership in Educational Administration, the EdS and PhD specializations in Leadership in Educational Administration are recognized by the Educational Leadership Constituent Council (ELCC).
NCATE-accredited programs are recognized by the U.S. Department of Education and the Council for Higher Education Accreditation for the preparation of P-12 teachers and other professional school personnel. Alumni of these programs are highly regarded by many school districts, licensing authorizes, and teaching professionals.
In addition to being nationally accredited, key programs in Capella's Professional Education Unit (PEU) have received national recognition by a Specialized Professional Association, indicating they have met the high standards of that association.

From P-12 teachers to administrators, our faculty hold top academic credentials in the areas they teach and many are published authors. Noteworthy contributions include directing an Ojibwe Language and Culture Education program and creating a middle college high school of 240 students on a college campus.

In our online course rooms, students and faculty participate in discussions at different times throughout the week.
