Collaborative IRB Training Initiative (CITI)

To provide training in protecting human participants in research and the principles and guidelines of the Human Research Protections Program, Capella University has adopted a series of online modules known as CITI - Collaborative IRB Training Initiative. These training modules are provided at no cost to Capella learners, faculty, staff, and IRB Members, and they meet current federal requirements.

All Capella learners and staff applying for IRB approval must complete the required 10 CITI modules plus any additional modules specific to their dissertation topics. Additional modules may be required depending on their relevancy to the research topic. For example, if your research involves children, prisoners, or the internet, additional modules are required. A minimum score of 85 percent correct overall and 100% on the Capella University module is required for researchers and mentors to obtain the certificate of completion for the CITI modules. Certificates remain in effect for three years from the date of issue for researchers and mentors.

For help in determining if your study requires any of the additional modules or for assistance with registration, send an email to irb @capella.edu.
