Meet the IRB Committee and Staff!

Federal regulations have clear guidelines and requirements as to the composition of an institution's IRB. These regulations dictate that an IRB shall be sufficiently qualified through the experience and expertise of its members, and to ensure that it include members knowledgeable across a spectrum of institutional regulations, applicable laws, and vulnerable populations who may be included in research regularly reviewed by that IRB.

Capella University's IRB also faces the exacting challenge of considering research conducted in disparate communities across the United States, and around the world, and as such, to be sensitive to community attitudes, local considerations, and cultural factors.

In consideration of all the above, our IRB has been carefully composed, and our review of research is equally careful. View the current IRB Committee Roster.

We are also proud to introduce the following new IRB members:

Grace Gao, School of Education

New IRB Office Staff

We also would like to welcome new additions to our IRB Office Staff.

IRB Reviews during Quarter Break

During the quarter break, the IRB office will continue to screen and process IRB applications as usual, and doctoral learners are welcome to submit IRB applications during this time. Please be aware, however, that faculty who review IRB applications will be on break during this time, so you can expect longer-than-usual turn-around times. These delays apply to new studies only; continuing reviews will not be impacted by the quarter break, and the office will remain fully staffed except during designated Capella holidays. Please plan accordingly and feel free to contact research&scholarship@capella.edu with any questions.
