School of Business and Technology

Legal Studies specialization

Capella's MS in Legal Studies specialization provides a unique opportunity to earn an advanced HR degree focused on employment and labor law. This area of knowledge has become desirable for certain HR professionals, such as employee benefits managers, who must interpret the growing number of workplace laws and regulations. Specialization topics include practice and theory of constitutional, tort, and labor and employment law; employee discrimination; fact investigation; and workplace legal communications and actions. You will learn to examine and apply select business and legal practices and theories in order to establish and maintain legal compliance while achieving business goals. People likely to be interested in the Legal Studies specialization include mid-level HR professionals and managers who want to gain a deeper understanding of this field in order to advance or be recognized for their HR expertise in employment and labor law.
