MS + MPA Joint Degree

School of Public Service Leadership

Public Safety

Gain multidisciplinary knowledge across the public administration and public safety professions and learn to work more effectively in cross–discipline departments or organizations. Capella's joint degree program allows you to earn two complementary degrees–a Master of Public Administration (MPA) and a Master of Science (MS) in Public Safety–in less time and at less cost than pursuing the two degrees separately. The curriculum covers such topics as strategic management and planning; organizational leadership and human resource management; policy analysis and research; ethnic and cultural awareness; accounting and finance; and training and performance improvement, all from public administration and public safety perspectives. Advanced learning technologies provide you with opportunities to test real–world scenarios and build a lifelong professional network. Career options for graduates of this joint program include public administration and public safety leadership positions that require cross–disciplinary knowledge and skills in such settings as law enforcement, fire suppression, emergency management, emergency medical response, government, and nonprofit agencies.
