Accounting Specialization

New government regulations, greater scrutiny of corporate finances, and business growth have fueled the need for accounting professionals who possess up-to-date financial and business knowledge. This online accounting bachelor's specialization will help you develop the important technical, professional, ethical, and interpersonal skills you need to succeed in this fast-growing field. Your coursework will also provide an overview of key business areas to increase your ability to effectively partner with other functions and contribute to your company’s success. You may delve deeper into certain business areas by selecting elective courses based on your professional goals and needs. People who choose this specialization are often pursuing professional accounting, auditing, or other financial recording and reporting positions in a wide variety of business, nonprofit, government, or financial service settings.

General Education Requirements

To complete your bachelor's degree, you will need 45 quarter credits in general education subject areas with a minimum of 6 quarter credits from each category. We offer general education courses in communication, humanities, natural science and mathematics, and social science.

Residents of Arkansas must complete Arkansas general education requirements.

This specialization provides learners with an understanding of a wide array of accounting related services, including budget analysis, financial and investment planning, and financial statement and internal control auditing. These skills prepare graduates for a profession in financial, managerial, or government accounting. In addition to accounting expertise, learners in the specialization will demonstrate the interpersonal and communication skills required to present information to both internal and external clients, influencing organizational effectiveness at all levels of their organization. This specialization is not designed to prepare learners for a CPA exam.
