Comments and Experiences with Capella University

December 3, 2010Dolores Review and Analysis Management and Leadership Specialization - Capella University Issue date: December 3, 2010 Author: Dolores (Dolly) Mikroulis Throughout my educational journey with Capella, Management and Leadership Specialization, I would have to say that the faculty through enriched practices, effective leadership and instruction; visual aids, excerpts/articles, theories, case studies, current reading materials, discussions, skills, competencies and knowledge acquired has surpassed or exceeded my expectations. The course material and instruction, is strategically structured and critical thinking processes are implemented throughout all learning and activities. I am currently in the latter part of my degree plan, with only a few courses remaining along with the capstone; my next step is a Combined Specialization(s)/MBA. I am further investigating the possibilities of adding another specialization to my degree plan. Faculty and learners have provided a nurturing and safe environment with guidance, advisory and partnerships; collaboration and building within a team setting; operations management, strategic planning, and change management along with core and specialization courses; internal and external issues all interrelated within the realm of leadership and management. I highly recommend the Management and Leadership Specialization to anyone pursuing a career in business, education, health care, retail, government or military organizations; 21st century realities and practices, partnerships, advisory, ethics, etc. This specialization opens up opportunities in diverse environments, and there will always be a demand for this internal and external specialization.

capella is a rip off.

October 24, 2011Tracy I, too, am an adult learner who was trying to find the right college to complete my Bachelor's Degree. I began at Capella 2 years ago and will complete my degree in 2014. I chose to take 1 class per quarter to help insure a higher grade point average, rather than take more classes and possibly struggle with the course load. Capella is a wonderful school, the curriculum is easy to work with, you need to be in the classroom 3 times wkly at your convenience, there is usually 1 discussion question due Wed pm, and 1 or 2 assignments due Fri. and/or Sun. pm., the students and instructors are excellent to work with, whether the work is individual or team orientated, it is a great experience. I was able to transfer my credits from all of the college courses I had taken in the past and each 10 wk course is worth 6 credits. Overall, I would recommend Capella to anyone who is looking to begin, return to, or continue with their education.

September 25, 2011Matt I have been with Capella for 5 years completed my BS and know in my MBA it has been great. The credits I earned toward the BA came from experience and military. The have worked with me on this and more than fair. As far as courses they are challenging and fun. The instructors have been very good at responding back to comments or questions in a timely manner. the ease of the internet classes had made it enjoyable. Th only comment I will make is stay focuses and stay on task. If you follow this you can enjoy family time work full time and maintain a high GPA. Remember you get what you put into it. I also attended graduation in Minneapolis MN and it was amazing, my family went with and it gave my son a positive look at what can be accomplished with dedication. I never sacrificed my family time for school I planned around my classes. BS classes are 12 weeks and MBA 5 weeks. I took 2 classes a quarter at times using my adviser on if the work load would be to much. And the last is team assign

B.S. in leadership and Management vs. B.S. in administration.

November 18, 2011Matthew To Joel; In my opinion the classes are more geared toward leading a team if you already have a position or have been a manager for many years this helps better understand your roal as a leader. In the Admin. B.S. it sets the ground rules needed to get a position. Being a senior manager for 20+ years I wanted more of some ideas and a different look at how I was managing not how can I be one. I hope that helps.

Does age and experience matter?

March 27, 2011Betsy I am interested in obtaining a Bachelor of Science (BS) in Business, Management and Leadership specialization. This will be a new journey for me. What advice can you offer.

Considering Capella

September 16, 2011Shavon I am currently an adult learner at another university. I am strongly considering changing; however, I do not understand the credits and how they work. Can someone offer me feedback on your personal experience with the online courses, class lenght, team assignments (if applicable), etc. Thank you in advance for your help with this decision.

November 16, 2011Joel Can anyone who has taken this major describe to me their experience within this particular major and how they feel it differs/is better than/is worse than a BS in Business Administration?
