Capella is proud of its multi-cultural student population. Having taken note of our diverse mix of ethnicities, nationalities and backgrounds, employers from around the world recruit heavily from our international student body.
As an international student, here's a quick look at what you'll need to submit along with your application.
If your international post-secondary transcript states that your language of instruction was English, your English proficiency requirement is considered fulfilled. If not, you must demonstrate English proficiency at the academic level by achieving a minimum acceptable score on one of the tests listed below. Test scores must be submitted to Capella University directly from the testing agency, and you must have taken the test within the past 2 years.
The following are acceptable English language tests listed along with their required minimum scores:
Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL)
Michigan English Language Assessment Battery (MELAB): 77
International English Language Testing System (IELTS): 6.5
Pearson Test of English (PTE): 59
International college or university transcripts must be evaluated and reviewed for eligibility when you apply. You may choose either to have your transcripts evaluated by an approved organization and sent to Capella, or to have Capella process an evaluation. The evaluation is not a guarantee of admission.
If you prefer to have Capella conduct the evaluation of your international transcripts, a $100 non-refundable fee is required before we can begin the process. This is in addition to any other application fee. The evaluation is applicable for Capella programs only and might not be accepted by other academic institutions.
To submit your transcripts to Capella for evaluation, ask your school(s) to mail an official copy of your transcripts to:
225 South 6th Street, 9th Floor
Minneapolis MN 55402
If you are unable to have the school send an official copy to Capella, you may submit a notarized photocopy of your official transcript to the address above. Note: each page of the transcript must be notarized.
