Understanding professional licensure
Capella University offers certain programs that are designed to prepare individuals to seek professional licenses or certifications. Professional licensing standards vary across the country, it is important to understand all educational and jurisdiction specific requirements for licensing.
Completion of a Capella program alone may not meet some professional licensure requirements. In addition to programmatic or academic requirements (degree type, accreditation, program credits, internship or practicum hours, coursework, etc.), licensing boards may also require applicants to meet additional other specific requirements, such as professional examinations, background checks, years of work experience, fingerprinting, etc., and to pay any associated fees.
Students and graduates of Capella’s licensure programs should also be aware that some licensing board requirements cannot be fulfilled after degree conferral. Students enrolled in a professional licensure program who are considering changing their program to another Capella licensure program should review the professional licensure disclosures of the jurisdiction in which they intend to practice and discuss the professional licensure requirements with an enrollment counselor or academic advisor.
It is your responsibility to understand and comply with the professional licensure requirements for the jurisdiction you intend to practice in. Capella University cannot guarantee professional licensure, certification, or endorsement.
Relocation to another state
Students are advised to carefully review, evaluate, and understand the requirements of the applicable licensing board in the jurisdiction in which they intend to seek employment in a licensed profession. Capella provides direct disclosures of professional licensure outcomes to its students based on the student’s address on file with the University. Students are responsible for keeping their contact information, including their address, accurate and current. Students may update their contact information at any time on Campus or via Student Support.
