Our online Bachelor of Science in IT degree program offers hands-on experience with industry tools through virtual labs, interactive simulations, real-world capstone projects and innovative resources. Experienced IT faculty help you build on your current knowledge and develop your professional skill set.

Credit for previous learning
Transfer credit and credit for prior learning (CPL) may be applicable toward your degree.
All transfer and CPL credit must be completed prior to starting any program in the FlexPath format. Any professional certification or external courses taken concurrently with FlexPath enrollment cannot be recognized in the Capella degree program.
$18,625 With Credit for Prior Learning (CPL), you can save up to $18,625 in tuition costs on your BS in IT in the GuidedPath learning format.
Books, supplies and other fees apply. Tuition savings represents the maximum savings with a single credential submission. Additional fess of $50 assessed each quarter you request documented credit. CPL awards may impact transfer credit maximums

Two online learning formats to fit your life
FlexPath
- Take one or two courses at a time
- Set your own deadlines. You can finish a course and move on to the next one without having to wait for a new term

Frequently asked questions
Applicants to the BS in IT program must provide the following information for admission:
- Admission application – no application fee required
- High school diploma or equivalent
- A transcript of any reported GED
- 4.5 credits eligible for transfer. See Sophia Admissions Pathways as an option to obtain credits.
- Applicants under the age of 24 must also submit a high school transcript verifying graduation
- A valid, government-issued form of photo identification
SAT and ACT are not required for admission.
International and FlexPath applicants will be subject to additional admission requirements.

Your enrollment counselor or academic coach can help you identify which Sophia courses are eligible to apply toward your bachelor’s degree. Courses are 100% online, so you can take them at your own pace, whenever it’s convenient. Textbooks and other course materials aren’t required. Courses taken through Sophia don’t count toward federal financial aid eligibility. You’ll need to be enrolled in at least two courses at Capella to qualify for financial aid that quarter.

You’ll engage with peers for weekly discussion posts, and instructors provide regular check-ins and feedback on assessments. Tuition is billed on a pay-per-credit model for 10-week courses. So, you can plan out your degree to fit your schedule and budget.
