Understanding professional licensure

It is important to understand all educational and individual requirements for licensing. Capella University cannot guarantee licensure, certification, or endorsement. State regulations vary regarding professional licensure. It is your responsibility to understand and comply with requirements for your state. Here are some resources to help you start your research:

Roadmap to licensure

Aside from the educational component that a degree program helps you fulfill, some states have additional post-graduate and exam requirements you may have to meet. Though every learner’s path to licensure is unique to their specific state requirements and life experiences, your journey to licensure may look like this:

Professional licensure disclosures

Per 34 CFR 668.43(a)(5)(v) - General Disclosures, an institution must provide disclosures if: a program is "designed" to meet the educational requirements for a specific professional license or certification required for an occupation; or advertised as being a program that meets professional licensure educational requirements in a state for that specific occupation. The institution is required to disclose, for each state, whether the program did or did not meet the educational requirements for that state or whether the institution is unable to make such a determination.
