It is important to understand all educational and individual requirements for licensing. Capella University cannot guarantee licensure, certification, or endorsement. State regulations vary regarding professional licensure. It is your responsibility to understand and comply with requirements for your state. Here are some resources to help you start your research:
Our Post-Master’s Certificate in Adult-Gerontology Primary Care Nurse Practitioner is:
- Designed to prepare learners for license in Adult-Gerontology Primary Care Nurse Practitioner
- 48 quarter credits
- 750 hours of practicum
- Approved by Minnesota’s Board of Nursing (MNBON)
Capella’s Post-master’s certificate in Adult-Gerontology Primary Care Nurse Practitioner is not currently accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education. Capella is pursuing initial accreditation of the certificate program with CCNE. (http://www.ccneaccreditation.org). If Capella’s Post-master’s certificate in Adult-Gerontology Primary Care Nurse Practitioner does not achieve accreditation or is delayed in achieving accreditation, it may prevent you from achieving licensure in certain states. This program is currently not approved for VA education benefits by the US Department of Veterans Affairs.
Professional licensure disclosures
Per 34 CFR 668.43(a)(5)(v) - General Disclosures, an institution must provide disclosures if: a program is "designed" to meet the educational requirements for a specific professional license or certification required for an occupation; or advertised as being a program that meets professional licensure educational requirements in a state for that specific occupation. The institution is required to disclose, for each state, whether the program did or did not meet the educational requirements for that state or whether the institution is unable to make such a determination.
