Fieldwork Requirements

Your Master’s program requires a minimum of 600 practicum hours. You will receive supervised training and practice the core competencies of professional psychology while simultaneously completing the accompanying online courses. Under the guidance of professionals in the field as well as faculty supervisors, you will apply skills gained through your online learning and residency.

Fieldwork Settings

Psychology students do fieldwork in non-profits and government agencies under the supervision of licensed psychologists. Fieldwork sites and supervisors must be approved by Capella to ensure all program requirements and accreditation standards are met.

Fieldwork settings may include, but are not limited to:

  • Social service organizations (e.g., alcohol and drug treatment facilities, community mental health centers, foster care agencies)
  • Private practice
  • Hospitals
  • Nursing homes
  • Non-profit agencies (e.g., rape and abuse crisis centers)
