Our PhD in Psychology, Educational Psychology program is designed to

The online PhD in Psychology, Educational Psychology curriculum
offers knowledge in learning, instruction, and research. Core
coursework provides a foundation of the science of psychology, and
specialization courses provide a deep dive into a subject. The program
includes dissertation research seminars which allow you to
get an early start on your dissertation.

Motivation
In this course, learners study major motivation theories, principles,
and research findings in order to understand the complexities of
motivational processes. Learners then use examples of motivational
processes as applied in educational settings to propose ways of
facilitating motivation within those settings. Learners also examine
the role their beliefs, cognitions, emotions, and values play in
achievement situations. |

In this course, learners gain and apply knowledge of lifespan
development from infancy through adulthood, including human
development processes and milestones. Learners evaluate theories and
approaches for examining human development and analyze human
development processes related to their specialization. |

Psychology of Personality
This course is an examination of personality development from the
perspective of several theoretical orientations: psychodynamic,
humanistic/ existential, dispositional, and learning theory. Learners
analyze and evaluate these theories and consider how other factors
such as culture and gender contribute to personality development. This
course also allows learners to apply personality theory to their
professional practice. |

Social Psychology
This course provides an overview of how behavior is shaped and
influenced within a social context. Within this framework, learners
analyze interpersonal relationships, social cognition, social
inference, emotion, and personality. Learners review and demonstrate
their knowledge of the social psychology of decision making, attitude
formation, and social attribution as they relate to contemporary
issues. Learners also apply social psychological theory and research
to various clinical, educational, and organizational settings. |

Principles of Educational Psychology
This course is an examination of current issues, theories, models,
and research design methods in the educational psychology field.
Throughout the course, learners evaluate principles of learning,
motivation, and assessment design strategies used to create curriculum
that is designed to enhance pedagogy, adaptation, and learner
performance.
Prerequisite(s): PSY5002 or PSY5005 or PSY8002.
