Capella University is proud to announce that it has won a 2018 Blackboard Catalyst Award.
The award recognizes Capella’s new FlexPath MEd courseroom design launched in July 2017. Capella’s original FlexPath design won an earlier award from Blackboard as well.
Blackboard is a global organization that partners with the education community to provide innovative, learner success-focused technology solutions and services. In 2005, Blackboard created the annual Catalyst Awards to recognize and honor innovation and excellence in its global community. There are 8 categories of awards, and Capella won in the Teaching & Learning category.
The awards were granted at BbWorld 2018, Blackboard’s annual user conference which was held July 16-19, 2018 in Orlando.
The MEd program provides a deep understanding of curriculum assessment innovations, pedagogical methods, technology integration, and cultural competency. The coursework is designed to allow teachers to apply what they learn while they learn it, so they can make an immediate impact on their students and schools. The FlexPath aspect lets MEd students take the degree at their own pace, on their own schedule—and leverages what they already know to move quickly through familiar material and spend more time on gaining new knowledge.
Capella University’s Bridget Gaer, FlexPath Product Manager, and Kathryn Green, Online Product Manager, nominated the program on behalf of the more than 30 staff members who supported the development of this innovative new courseroom. “The commitment of this large, focused project team made a blue-sky vision reality, delivering a great student experience while also enabling important improvements to our FlexPath model,” says Gaer. Winning the Blackboard Catalyst Award reaffirms the value of the platform.
