Which Degree is Right for You—A PsyD or PhD?

As you explore doctoral programs in psychology, you’ll want to consider the main differences between a Doctor of Philosophy in Psychology (PhD) and a Doctor of Psychology (PsyD). Typically, if your focus is on research and administration, you’ll want to consider a PhD, which helps you learn to effectively plan and conduct research within the field and gain strong leadership skills. A PsyD degree program will prepare you for clinical practice as it focuses on assessing and treating clients.

Having the doctorate has really changed how people see me, particularly in my primary profession of law enforcement.
