Career highlights
Dr. Angela Saathoff is the program director for the Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) program for the School of Nursing and Health Sciences at Capella University. She is also a nurse practitioner with experience in retail and hospital medicine. Dr. Saathoff started her research pathway as a biologist working in the Department of Infectious Diseases at the University of Mississippi Medical Center, where her team connected a link between thromboembolic events and antifungal agents. She was also employed as a clinical research nurse with the Diabetes and Metabolism Center in Jackson, MS. In addition to her research role, she worked in the Mississippi Delta, to coordinate many events to bring awareness to the disparity of diabetes associated with the region.
Dr. Saathoff’s teaching philosophy is grounded in experiential, practice-focused doctoral education that bridges the gap between research and professional practice. She emphasizes translating evidence into meaningful real-world practice. Central to her approach is creating supportive systems and learning environments that empower students to disseminate their work effectively, contribute to their fields and make a lasting difference in their professional communities.
