PHR® and SPHR® Certification Exam Prep Course

This course covers both the Professional in Human Resources (PHR®) and the Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR®) certification exams.² The PHR® certification recognizes mastery of the technical and operational aspects of HR practices and U.S. laws and regulations. The SPHR® certification recognizes those who have mastered the strategic and policy-making aspects of HR management in the U.S.

These Capella certification exam preparation courses are designed by subject matter experts, and include discussion questions, application exercises, and module exams to develop specific HR competencies. The fully online, 10-week courses cover specific topics in six primary areas:

  • Strategic management
  • Workforce planning and employment
  • Human resource development
  • Total rewards
  • Employee and labor relations
  • Risk management

These courses are designed for managers and staff with experience in general management or human resource management, including:

  • HR practitioners seeking professional development

Recertification credits: Certified HR professionals can earn 3.5 CEUs (Continuing Education Credit) for successfully completing either the PHR®/SPHR® preparation course.

Register for the exam

Participants planning to take the PHR® or SPHR® examinations must register through HRCI:

To earn the PHR® and SPHR® designation, candidates must have at least two years of exempt-level experience in the HR field.

*While pass rates on the PHR® and SPHR® exam tend to improve for those taking the review course, no guarantee can be made that completion of this course will result in success on this exam. Individuals are encouraged to use this review course as a guide in their preparation and to seek additional assistance as they determine is necessary.
