Nurses play a vital role in healthcare, supporting patients and their families while working in a field that’s always evolving. Capella understands the demands of the profession and is committed to helping our students build fulfilling careers.

Explore six ways Capella supports nursing professionals as they develop their skills, step into leadership roles and transform their career.

1. Education that meets you where you are

Balancing work, family and other responsibilities can make going back to school challenging. Capella’s online nursing degree programs and learning formats make it easier to fit education into your busy schedule.

With FlexPath, you can set your own pace and deadlines. If you prefer a more structured approach to learning, GuidedPath gives students weekly assignments and deadlines. Both learning formats offer 24/7 access to the courseroom so you can study where and when it works for you.

2. Faculty with nursing experience

At Capella, you’ll learn from practicing professionals who bring current best practices and real-world experience to the courseroom. Our faculty are specially trained in online instruction and receive continuous support to help them develop and strengthen their teaching skills.

3. Advocacy for nurses as leaders

Nurses have a wealth of clinical patient care and systems knowledge that can help healthcare organizations reach their goals. But currently, not enough nurses sit on boards to influence critical decisions in hospitals and clinics.

Capella is a founding strategic partner of the Nurses on Boards Coalition, a nonprofit organization with a mission to improve the health of communities through the service of nurses on boards, panels and commissions. Joining boards offers nurses the opportunity to help their communities, collaborate with other professionals and gain useful leadership experience.

Capella has its own Nursing and Health Sciences Advisory Board made up of leading healthcare strategists. This board works with Capella faculty to ensure that its nursing programs prepare students to thrive in the dynamic field of healthcare.

4. Strong relationships with employers

Capella partners with leading healthcare organizations, hospital systems, and insurance providers nationwide. Many of these employers offer employer tuition assistance or tuition discounts, which can help make earning a nursing degree more affordable. Employers collaborate with Capella because they trust our nursing degree programs to prepare students for real-world healthcare settings.

5. Scholarship opportunities for nursing students

Paying for your education is an important part of planning your next step. In addition to employer tuition assistance and other financial aid options, Capella offers scholarship opportunities for eligible nursing students across select programs.

Scholarship opportunities include the BSN $15,000 Capella Progress Reward Scholarship for qualified bachelor’s students. In select nurse practitioner certificate programs, eligible students can apply for an $8,000 Capella-Optum® Scholarship. Capella alumni pursuing qualifying programs may also have access to additional Capella-Optum® awards, including a $10,000 Alumni Certificate Scholarship and a $12,000 Alumni Master’s Scholarship. Award amounts vary by program, and eligibility requirements apply.

Exploring available scholarship opportunities can help you better understand your options and reduce out-of-pocket costs as you pursue your nursing degree.

6. Career support for nursing students and alumni

How can Capella help you reach your professional goals? Our Career Development Center offers a wide range of services including one-on-one career coaching, networking opportunities and no-cost continuing education credits for both students and alumni.

Nursing careers don’t stand still – and neither should your education. Take the next step with Capella’s flexible online nursing degrees and certificates.
