In October 2017, Capella University announced the winners of the 3rd annual Capella Business Leader Award, in collaboration with The Wall Street Journal (WSJ)/Dow Jones.
The award—which includes a trip to New York City—is given to outstanding online business degree students who demonstrate leadership ability, academic excellence, and a keen understanding of today’s business environment.
The 2017 Capella Business Leader Award recipients are:
- Kerri Moreno, MBA in Human Resource Management
- Rafael Sanchez, Jr., DBA in Human Resource Management
- Cheryl Walker Waldrup, BS in Business, Business Administration
The winners spent two busy days in New York City visiting the WSJ/Dow Jones headquarters, meeting with Dow Jones Talent Development leaders, and participating in the NASDAQ closing bell ceremony.
“Capella’s collaboration with the WSJ/Dow Jones enables these students to see firsthand how business theories play out in the corporate world,” explains Dr. Rhonda Capron, Dean of Capella’s School of Business and Technology. “Kerri, Rafael, and Cheryl are using their Capella education to further their workplace goals and professional practices, which is the type of relevant and applicable education we strive to provide.”
“I was honored to be a part of this event again this year,” says Capron. “This group of deserving award recipients has gone above and beyond, and I am excited to see where their careers and education take them in the future.”
Capella’s collaboration with The Wall Street Journal began in early 2015 with the common goals of expanding students’ knowledge of business, strategy, leadership, finance, and economics. Business students and faculty have full access to content at WSJ.com, plus access to WSJ workshops and webinars at no additional cost.
